Fleeting

I stood outside my home tonight to take a peek at the sky. I managed to plant myself between two trees to cut of the light from the street lamps. Very good seeing. I would give it a 9/10 condition of the sky minus the fact that this is one of the most light polluted places on the planet. So good in fact that I could make of magnitude 5 stars. Hardly ever get to see such lovely nights here in Singapore.

Scorpius, image from Starry Night BackyardScorpius was there in all is 30′ glory in the sky, Jupiter was right next to it, having risen from the east. The red giant Arcturus was directly over me and shone beautifully. A slight tint of regret came over me for taking the bino apart for cleaning. Perhaps its high time I got myself an Oberwerk 20 x 70. But money is tight for the moment till I get over with studies. Over to my right, the Southern Cross and our closest star, Alpha Centauri, shone brightly. Its ironic that its the closest yet it takes 4.37 years for its light to reach us. Anyhow, I thought of the Jewel Box I showed to G 2 weeks back through the scope, she was thrilled and found it really pretty. Most folks love to see the Jewel box, an open cluster in the Crux constellation.

I wondered what and awful waste of space if it were only us. I stood awhile longer as my eyes got tired and retreated home. At least I got to see something beautiful, aside from G today, even if it was only for a moment too fleeting.

I actually started blogging quite awhile back. The time where Pyra Labs created blogger.com. But after awhile I got bored and felt that I wasn’t contributing much cause it was almost always on a rant tangent. Anyhow, since I’ve had this domain for 10 years already, decided to put up a blog other then some test sites. :p
